A New Day has Come

Chris has had the amazing opportunity of serving as a fact checker and aid to the speech writing office of President Bush. He has had some really amazing opportunities, not all were documented with pictures, but here are the few that were. So here is a look back at Chris's short journey in the White House with George W. Bush.

The view from the South Lawn towards the EOB. The taller building in the background is the EOB, where Chris's office was.

This is just a room inside Chris's building. It is beautiful and really old.

Chris at the front entrance of the White House with Dana and Peter.

Chris, Mike, Peter.

President Bush walking to the podium on the front lawn of the White House to give a speech.

President Bush speaking to the public.

George W. on the concourse of the rose gardens.
Chris had the opportunity to watch the President land on the South Lawn on several occasions. Here he is with Dana and Peter. They were able to watch three helicopters approach the White House grounds, then one swoops down and lands. This is always the one with the President inside. Chris says that it is insanely loud and the wind coming off the blades is really strong.

Here he is safe on the ground, giving everyone a little wave.

Dana, Chris, Peter, and Mike awaiting the arrival of President Bush.

President Bush and the First Lady coming out to greet everyone.

President Bush shaking hands with people in the crowd. Yes, Chris shook his hand.

A close up.

This is just a shot of the news crews and reporters behind the soldiers. Something that I never really thought about before this picture. They are always there for the speeches.
First Lady, Laura Bush, delivering a speech.
(I am amazed at how close they get to be for all of this.)

Barney or Misses Beasley's water dish.

It wasn't all work and no play. The President has a two lane bowling ally in the bottom of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (where Chris's office was). So one day the Speech staff got a special trip down there to play a game or two. Nice shoes!

Will you look at that form! *Note- the President also has a putting green, basketball court, tennis court, and a track on the grounds of the white house. I was lucky enough to personally see the putting green and basketball courts. *

Chris also brought his personal flair to work each day.... Yes, yes he did. This must be why they gave him the position. That or the force. . .

He really enjoyed working there; even the days that he did not get home until midnight. It was truly an amazing experience. I must say that I am a little jealous that he got to shake Bush's hand. We are all so proud of the work that he did there and the work that it took to get him there. How many people get to have such an experience? We were really blessed in getting this position. I know that we were led to DC. I was able to find work so quickly and Chris started right away. It has been really fun and we hope that we can stay here for at least another year or until we are prompted to go somewhere new.
